Buying and credits
Do I need an account? How do I log in?
No accounts or passwords. Your credits are linked to the browser you paid in by one essential cookie, and your CV draft is saved in that browser. Don't clear cookies or use private browsing, or the site won't recognise you. Switching device? Email us with the email you paid with and we'll help.
I paid but I can't see my credits.
Credits are saved in the browser you paid in. Open cvtailorly.com in that same browser and device (not a private window) and refresh. Still missing? Email hello@cvtailorly.com with your payment email. You won't need to pay again.
What does each option cost?
1 job: £4.99, plus an optional cover letter for £1.99. 5 jobs: £14.99 (£3 per job, cover letters included, credits never expire). 30-day pass: £24.00. 90-day pass: £39.00. The checker, the builder preview and the free tools cost nothing.
Is it a subscription? How do I cancel?
Nothing to cancel. Every payment is one-off and nothing auto-renews, ever.
How do the 30- and 90-day passes work?
Up to 100 packs, CV downloads and NHS statements in total from the day you buy, then the pass simply ends. Buying another pass while one is active adds the extra days. Any separate credits you have are kept for later.
What will appear on my bank statement?
The charge comes through our payment provider, Stripe, and includes CVTAILORLY in the description.
Do I get a receipt? Can I get a VAT invoice?
We email a receipt to the address you enter at checkout. We're not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged and we can't issue VAT invoices. Need an invoice for an employer? Email hello@cvtailorly.com.
How do refunds work?
Unused credits: full refund within 14 days. Once you use a credit to generate a document, the right to cancel for that credit ends (you agree to this at checkout). If something is wrong with a document, we'll fix it, return the credit or refund it. Email hello@cvtailorly.com with your payment email. Refunds reach your card in 5–10 working days.
Downloads
How long can I download my documents?
Built CVs: edit and re-download free for 30 days after unlocking, in the same browser. Tailored packs and NHS statements: download from your results page for 30 days. After that they're deleted for your privacy, so save your Word and PDF files.
What if generating my pack fails?
It takes up to a minute. If generation fails, your credit is returned automatically. If the page stalls, reload it; you won't be charged twice.
Can I edit the documents?
Yes. The Word file is fully editable. Built CVs can also be edited in the builder and re-downloaded free for 30 days.
Can I get a cover letter on its own?
A cover letter is written for a specific job, from your CV and the advert. Add it to a 1 job pack for £1.99; it's included with the 5-job bundle and the passes.
I lost my CV draft.
Drafts live only in your browser, so we can't restore them. Use 'Import my existing CV' in the builder to refill it from a file.
Uploading your CV
What files can I upload?
PDF, Word (.docx) or .txt, up to 5 MB, or paste the text. Old .doc files, Pages files, and scanned or photographed CVs can't be read. Save as .docx or a text-based PDF first.
Does it work on my phone? Which browsers?
Yes, on any up-to-date Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. For long CVs a laptop is easier. Allow cookies for cvtailorly.com and avoid private mode.
Countries and formats
How do I get a UK CV, not a US résumé?
Choose your country in the builder (step 1) or in 'Where are you applying?' on the checker and tailoring tools. The UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Europe use A4 and British spelling; the US and Canada use Letter and American or Canadian spelling.
How is my checker score worked out?
Six areas (ATS readability, country conventions, length, impact and evidence, spelling, contact details), weighted towards readability and evidence, plus a job match if you add an ad. It's rule-based. Other tools check different things, so use our report as a to-do list.
What's the difference between the checker score and the match score?
The checker scores the CV itself. The match score is the share of the job ad's key terms that your CV shows (70+ is strong).
Your data
How do I delete my data or get a copy of it?
Most of it deletes itself: CVs, job ads and documents after 30 days, uploaded files are never stored, and drafts stay in your browser. To delete anything sooner or get a copy, email hello@cvtailorly.com; we respond within one month. Payment records are kept for 6 years by law.
What's the API key on my payment page?
It lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude use your credits through our MCP server. Keep it private like a password, and tell us if it leaks.
