Tips for a social worker CV
- Put your registration status in the first line. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, name the SSSC, Social Care Wales or NISCC instead.
- Say whether your experience is in children's or adults' services and which teams (assessment, long-term, safeguarding).
- Use the legislation you've actually worked under. Shortlisters check it against the person specification.
- Keep every case example anonymous.
Most social workers are employed by local authorities, which publish pay grades in the advert. Pay varies by employer, region and experience. The official sources below give typical ranges. Salary checker (ONS data).

FAQs
Should a newly qualified social worker list placements?
Yes. Give each placement setting, length and the type of work you did, such as assessments or direct work with families. Employers recruiting for ASYE posts expect placements to be your main evidence.
